Luxurious and restful. Cabbage, beetroot, chilies, and tomatoes which cannot think grows in bitter environments, droves of Donkeys as often cattle in other areas, mouthwatering meals, giant windmills for electricity generators are rare to see apart from Kalpitiya. Kalpitiya simply can be known as an easily accessible, enjoyable and even not crowded destination for a mindful trip. The aqua-sports never make it boring under the sun. Kalpitiya is proximity to Puttalam along a narrow coastal belt. It is 100 kilometers long on both sides of the sea. One could utter that “Oh! It's hot. How would if fun here", but the lagoon and the coastal belt with a refreshing breeze to make the busting sand to cool, is a really nice place.

A variety of coral reefs, consisting of beautiful sea creatures and fish, are located close to Kalpitiya. Certain coral reefs have been declared by the government as conservation zones. Wilpattu is a mega wilderness on the other side of the lagoon peninsula. The beauty of this area is made up of mangroves that grow in the environment.
There are 12 islands above Kalpitiya as Ippantiv, Periya Arichchalai, Itumativ and Battalangunduwa is a recently famed one. There is a public boat service to the island at 8.30 a.m. every day which connects the bus from Negombo at 4.30 a.m. It is a nice choice to the island discovery favors economically. Battalangunduwa’s round trip can be covered within one or two hours. The nearby islands too nature blessed and Navy, boatmen inquiries make the opportunity for visits.
In Kalpitiya Mangroves and lagoons are good breeding grounds for prawns. Fishermen carry small boats and equipment in order to catch them. They are clever in catching alive lobsters from coral reefs. In the mornings in Kalpitiya, a fine place to see fresh tumbling fish at small fishing ports.
When the wind blows, it is like a huge parachute that is quarreling with the wind. Hangers on one end and sliding on the water. This is kite surfing. Today Sri Lankans don't miss the opportunity for kite surfing in Kalpitiya. Wind power and the calm sea make doors for surfing. Not for more than 10 years, the Kalpitiya beach has been popularly known for kite surfing. 10-12 years ago, villagers were impressed by the Kitesurfing foreigner who said: "Aw! this is just awesome for kite surfing". From there Kalpitiya is a destination for local and foreign kite surfers.
Attractions
Thalavila Church
The Church in Thalawila is considered to be the oldest Christian church in Sri Lanka. In the early days of the Dutch, the ship broke off and is now moved to the place where the Thalawila church is. Thereafter they have made a vow to the god to return safely. Reconstructed ships have taken them to the Holland and the ancient church had built in offering the gratitude and veneration. Today it is a massive church and a beautiful place where Christians gathered not in hundreds, thousand in the festive season.
Dutch Fort
The stand is in shape pandal with a belfry on the top, VOC emblem, a large wall upon entering which avoids the outsiders entering in one go and the yellow bricks arch of the entrance are simply how the Dutch fort of Kalpitiya still exists.
Kalpitiya as Calpenteyn or Calpetty by Dutch built the fort in 1667 on the venue which Jesuit chapel of Portuguese had built.
