They are the sacred city of Anuradhapura, the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, the golden temple of Dambulla, the ancient city of Sigiriya, the sacred city of Kandy, the old town of Galle and its fortifications.

Day 01

Arrival- Pick up |Negombo

Arrival in Colombo (CMB), Sri Lanka International Airport, meet with local representative of Wanderlust-Asia and continue to your hotel in Negombo, not so far away from the Katunayeka Airport, to indulge in a diverse experience with its picturesque beaches, the lagoon, dazzling fishing villages and archaeological sites. Also called ‘Little Rome’ for the spectrum of Roman Catholic churches and statues of saints marking the landscape. Once in Negombo, check into your hotel.

Day 02 - Anuradhapura Sacred city

Following breakfast proceed to Anuradhapura, Taking you back in time -to Sri Lanka’s First Capital.
The heart of Sri Lanka’s majestic civilization enriched with Buddhism, exquisite sculpture, magnificent feats of architecture and hydraulic sophistication depicted by the cluster of reservoirs and irrigation channels- all reminiscent of the grandeur of a bygone era founded in the 5th Century BC and self- sustained in the decades afterwards.

A guided tour around the age old ruins depicting the embodiment of Buddhism, history and culture; exploring the Eight Sacred Sites (Atamastana)

Day 03 - Polonnaruwa Medieval Capital

Ready to find out what you would explore in this 11th & 12th Century medieval capital during your travel journey?
Polonnaruwa is a grandeur unsurpassed. An interesting mix of Buddhism, ancient craftsmanship, arts, architecture and South Indian Hindu culture spread across around 122 hectares - an experience that would forever be etched in the traveler’s mind.
Within this walled citadel you would find the significant monuments best preserved to date such as the flora stone pillared pavilion called Nissanka Latha Mandapaya; the Royal Citadel and the ponds; the impressive Vatadage relic house; Tuparamaya image house; the circular relic house; the golden pinnacled stupa- Rankoth Vehera; the extravagant moonstones; guard stones and sculpture; Kirivehera dagoba; the glorious Polonnanru Gal Viharaya with breathtaking rock sculptures; Menik Vehera- a Lotus shaped stupa; the statue of King Parakramabahu the Great carved on a rock (during this King’s reign Polonanurwa reached its golden era) and the mammoth manmade inland Lake - Parakrama Samudraya which irrigates the city and the farmlands even today.

Day 04 - Must See Lion Rock & Cave Temple

Following breakfast at hotel, Proceed to Sigiriya.
Imagine you in the middle of a massive 200 meter rock fortress of 5th Century AD… A royal palace built on a colossal rock using the most sophisticated technology; having unique frescoes dating back to over thousand years - a place that has intrigued many archeologists and historians, let alone the tourists, all over the world.
How do you feel? Enthralled right? The remains of the citadel on a massive rock, the unique Lion Gate, the mirror wall, moats, ponds and archeological ruins of Sigiriya rock makes it the Eighth Wonder of the World. Well, you have to see it to believe it!
Afternoon pay a visit to Dambulla cave temples, a City filled with some of Sri Lanka’s richest heritage. Enjoy a Dambulla historical city tour. First to the world famous Dambulla rock temple. A vast isolated rock mass, on a gentle slope. As you climb, you will enjoy the panoramic view of the surrounding. An ancient King on exile is said to have taken refuge here. Inside the cave you find a large collection of Buddha statues and the roof which is a beautiful canvas of Buddhist paintings –some 2000 years
old.

Day 05 - Historical Kandy

Kandy

Following Breakfast, transfer to Kandy.
Kandy is home to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic- a supreme place of Buddhist worship. A place that gets illuminated with all the glamour during Perahera time.
The first on the agenda is a visit to the majestic Tooth Relic Shrine (Dalada Maligawa) which has preserved its ancient splendor –adorned with Kandyan architecture and spectacular interior. On your way there you will walk past the beautiful Kandy Lake. A walk around the place you will witness the traditional drumming during morning, noon and evening, learn the ritual and honors accorded to the Relic, the history, custodians of this iconic heritage.
Once the city tour is done, check into your hotel and get freshened up before you head back to the Kandy town to finally enjoy a cultural performance show – get a taste of the aesthetic heritage of our Kandyan Kingdom.

Day 06 - Nature Walk

Kandy

Following breakfast spend the morning relaxing at the hotel.
Visit the Udawattakale sanctuary later in the morning. Into the woods, we go. Sri Lanka indeed is a hiker’s paradise.
Behind the Dalada Maligawa, is 160 acres of tropical rainforest– a rich vegetation surrounded by the cluster of hills with its plethora of plants, birds, butterflies and animals.
Some of the encounters you will make here are the water pond and the Senkada cave- a meditation centre of a hermit. Your feet is made for walking after all- so we have included the highest peak known Kodimale also into the itinerary. The giant pus wela creeper – some 300 years old - is also something not to be missed here. Within the sanctuary limits you will also find a little trace of history.
The Garrison Cemetery – a collection of tombstones of 150 British souls, who were buried far from home in the early 19th century. Quite an intriguing place to see.
Due to the human activity that leads to deterioration of this precious territory the Government has declared it a Forest Reserve. So let’s do some responsible travelling.
Spend the evening strolling around the streets on Kandy at leisure.

Day 07 - Tea Country

Nuwara Eliya

Following breakfast, you will be heading further up the misty mountains to Nuwara Eliya. You are in the Land of Ceylon Tea so this part of the country shouldn’t be missed.

The picturesque Nuwara Eliya – also known the world over as ‘little England’ has wonderful tea estates. Get into the car and get ready to explore these heavenly highlands! The tour will take you on a scenic drive through acres of lush tea estates; here you will see tea pickers, mostly females clad in sarees, carefully picking the tender two leaves and a bud which are essential to making fine tea. You will have the opportunity to visit a tea factory to witness the process of making your cuppa. May we also remind you not forget to indulge in the pleasure in fine Ceylon Tea- Black Tea, Green Tea, Oolong Tea, or silver Tips whatever your choice is;

Day 08 - Heaven of Adventure

Ella

Following breakfast – proceed to the Ella
First visit the Ella Rock also known as Little Adam’s peak, which is named after its big brother, the Holy Mountain Adam’s Peak – because of their similar shape. The beginning of the path goes through beautiful green tea plantations, it is an easy path to hike and the scenery is to die for!
Following the climb head back to the Ella town for some refreshments and in the afternoon head to the famous Demodara Nine Arch Bridge one of the highlights of Ella.

Day 09 - Game drive at Yala

Yala | Kumana

After the breakfast leave for Yala.
Continue to Yala,one of the most popular tourist attractions in Srilanka and Srilanka’s biggest national park!
This is a tour that is bound to bring ample fun and photo delights. Yala National Park’s incredible wild life has made this vast area of forest, grassland and lagoons a world famous safari park.
We know that the safari ride in this wildlife kingdom is what you look forward to the most. An unexpected “elephant on the road!” moment , the mating dance of a peacock, a wild buffalo trying to defend itself from an intruder, the deer and the leopards -Nature tourism and adventure- you are going to have it all there.
Yala is a heaven of Birds too. Thousands of water birds that have migrated to the Yala lagoons as well as the residing forest birds makes Yala a bird lover’s paradise.
You can go on an afternoon game drive to capture the best of Yala!

Day 10 - To the beach

Galle

Spend time in a beautiful fortified city, down south. Galle-a UNESCO Heritage site.
Discovering the old and the new. Discovering people amidst a wonderful mix of architecture and culture.
Take a stroll down the old town with interesting street names would be like a walk down memory lane, reminiscing Ceylon in the Colonial days.

Portuguese constructed and Dutch fortified majestic Galle Fort and the landmarks within the premises such as the Galle National Museum depicting history and the life of the Galle inhabitants; the Fort Library - the treasure trove of rare books; Galle maritime Museum, heritage houses in the narrow alleys and the mix bag of boutiques and shops in every nook and corner selling antiques, souvenirs, jewelry, arts and crafts; eateries and art galleries.
This excursion will have you walking quite a bit. Still you would have plenty to see a second time around too. Spend the rest of the evening relaxing by the beach.

Day 11 - Whales Watching Boat trip

Galle

It’s the day to spot whales & dolphins!
Our driver will take you to the Mirissa Fishery Harbor at 6am. Your journey will start at 7am and you will be on the sea for 4- 6 Hrs. Unlimited bottle waters, Tea and Coffee, breakfast, fruits and Coconut drink (Refreshments) will be provided.
Once the tour is done you get to explore more of Mirissa beached before heading back to Galle.
Spend your evening leisure at the beach.

Day 12 & 13 - Beach days

Bentota | Beruwela

End you cultural holiday by spending two night in Bentota with breath taking views of the mesmerizing beaches!
Here comes the Bentota beach escapade. soak up the sun, swim in the romantic turquoise blue sea or try some adventurous water sports at this beach resort. Shopping, seafood dining- you have those options too.

Day 14 - Departure

Colombo
